Basketball Recap: Weed Extends Home Winning Streak to 15

Weed had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-18 win over the Mt. Shasta Bears. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 25 points or more this season.

Weed had a senior duo take command as Alayja Oliver went 6-for-11 on her way to 15 points and four steals and Annabelle McCarthy posted seven points and 11 rebounds. That's the most steals Oliver has posted since back in December of 2024. Ahmani Collins was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Weed smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Shasta only seven offensive boards.

Weed pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points over those games. As for Mt. Shasta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 18 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.

Weed wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-22 win against Etna on the 21st. Mt. Shasta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
