Softball Recap: Mountain Vista Comes Up Short

Mountain Vista extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ralston Valley Mustangs. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Lily Oss was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Alexa Reinig also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ralston Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Mountain Vista since August 13, 2022.

On Ralston Valley's side, Kat Mastriona spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Nina Renk was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caley Pfeifer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Mountain Vista has already played their next game, a 12-4 win against Brush on the 30th. As for Ralston Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-3 loss against Horizon on the 30th.
