Football Recap: Dax Peterson and Emmitt Dirks Secure Win for York

York won the last time they faced Crete and things went their way on Friday too. The Dukes walked away with a 21-14 win over the Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dukes.

Leading York to victory were Emmitt Dirks and Dax Peterson. Dirks rushed for 78 yards, while Peterson picked up 40 receiving yards and one score. What's more, Dirks racked up 116 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: York was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

York didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Max Erickson.

Although Crete took the loss, they still got scores from Triston Lenhoff and Josue Perez-Vicente. Perez-Vicente also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

York now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Crete, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, York will square off against Lincoln Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crete, they will take on Ralston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
