Basketball Recap: Hilmar Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Sophie Stivers and Emma Gomes

Hilmar lost against Livingston back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hilmar Yellowjackets fell just short of the Livingston Wolves by a score of 31-28.

Despite the defeat, Hilmar had strong showings from Emma Gomes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Sophie Stivers, who posted nine points. That's the most boards Gomes has posted since back in January of 2024.

Livingston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elizabeth Avila out in front who put up seven points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Isabella Zazueta, who had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hilmar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season. As for Livingston, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Hilmar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 33-31 win against Hughson on the 23rd. As for Livingston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-30 victory against Johansen on the 21st.
