Softball Recap: Clopton Victorious

While Clopton's win against Mark Twain wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 6-4. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ashlyn Noah spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Skyler Wilson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lilly Stribling was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The victory got Clopton back to even at 5-5. As for Mark Twain, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-8.

Coming up, Clopton will head out on the road to square off against Wright City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mark Twain, they will welcome Elsberry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
