Baseball Recap: Druid Hills Red Devils vs. Northview Titans
Druid Hills extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 12-11. They fell 7-3 to the Northview Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 on March 6th.
River Sherman made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Ryder Sibly, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Northview, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
On Northview's side, they got a great performance from Carter Gooch as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.
On the hitting side, Liev Kilman was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Northview is 2-1 when Kilman posts two or more runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Graham Forney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Druid Hills will host St. Pius X Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northview, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Southwest DeKalb at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.41 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
