Preview: Hill School Rams vs. Hun Raiders
The Hill School Rams on the road again on Saturday and play against the Hun Raiders at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Hill School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Hill School is ranked highly in their home state, and they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Pennington. Hill School pulled ahead with a 59-58 photo finish over Pennington. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hill School relied on the efforts of Lily Soller, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Sammie Faella, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hebert, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Hun suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Blair Academy, falling 88-40. Hun was down 64-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Gabby D'Agostino, who scored 17 points. That was a full 42.5% of Hun's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. CeeJay Thomas was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Hill School's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Hun, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hill School have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hun struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hill School came up short against Hun in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 58-46. Can Hill School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
