Basketball Recap: La Sierra Sets Scoring Season-High Against Patriot

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Sierra). They pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over the Patriot Warriors on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Warriors back in January, they had to take a 64-24 defeat.

Despite the loss, Patriot still got an impressive performance from Kayla Gonzalez, who posted 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That was a full 55.6% of Patriot's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karla Hernandez, who scored five points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

La Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Patriot, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Sierra will square off against Norte Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Patriot, they will face off against Jurupa Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Patriot is facing Jurupa Valley at the right time seeing as Jurupa Valley is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
