Baseball Recap: Elmwood Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Elmwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains. The Royals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chieftains, too.

Ryken Zeigler was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Adam Abke, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elmwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Elmwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they dropped their record down to 19-7-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Elmwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will head out to square off against McComb at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
