Game recap: Wayzata High School Football Team wins against Minnetonka

PLYMOUTH, Minn. - Wayzata (Plymouth, Minn.) kept up a steady attack all game long to upset Minnetonka (Minn.), 35-7, on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Dom Belfanti touchdown pass to Charlie Chermak in the first quarter, the Trojans led 21-7 at the half.

Wayzata grew its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. WHS scored once in the quarter on a Belfanti touchdown pass to Braeden Campbell.

Minnetonka's only touchdown came on an 80-yard pass from Nick Rooney to Mitch Felknor in the first quarter.

The Skippers came in giving up 17.1 points per game this season. Coming into the game the Plymouth school had allowed 23.8 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Minnetonka well below its season average of 28.9 points scored per game.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 14-0 win for Wayzata.

The win was a nice bounce back for WHS, which lost to Eden Prairie last week, 49-14. The loss was the third in a row for MHS.
