Basketball Recap: Scotland Christian Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Scotland Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt an 85-55 loss at the hands of the Riverside Christian Academy Royals on Monday. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Scotland Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Frankie McIntyre, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards, and Landon Wallace, who shot 53% from the field en route to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Riverside Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braydon Temple, who went 11-for-15 to rack up 24 points along with five boards and three steals. Temple is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Poston, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds.

Riverside Christian Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Coming up, Scotland Christian Academy will square off against Wilson Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Alpha Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
