Baseball Recap: Shepard Comes Up Short

Shepard extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 11-19. They came up short against the Evergreen Park Mustangs, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Astros have suffered against the Mustangs since May 15, 2023.

As for Evergreen Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Evergreen Park's part, Cadyn Kummer made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Kummer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Evergreen Park let Yarim Garcia and Ian Mora run wild. Garcia went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Mora went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Munoz, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

While Shepard had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
