Baseball Recap: Hebron Christian Comes Up Short

Hebron Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against East Jackson on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the East Jackson Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Barrett Bruce made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Braden Ezzell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Hebron Christian moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for East Jackson, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Hebron Christian will host Rabun Gap-Nacoochee at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hebron Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for East Jackson, they will venture away from home to challenge Hebron Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
