Basketball Recap: Venture Academy Mustangs vs. Stone Ridge Christian Knights
The Venture Academy Mustangs waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 48-37 victory over Stone Ridge Christian. That's another feather in the cap for Venture Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Venture Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jz Lawrence, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 steals. Lawrence is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Stone Ridge Christian still got an impressive performance from Cali Cole, who scored 19 points. Cole hasn't dropped below 17 points for five straight games. Bella Ewing was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Venture Academy pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Stone Ridge Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venture Academy will face off against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Turlock Christian has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
