Volleyball Game Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. Pearland Oilers

The Manvel Mavericks will challenge the Pearland Oilers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pearland is facing Manvel at the wrong time: Manvel suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell 3-1 to the Sharks.

Manvel was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Shadow Creek work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-28, 25-22, 28-26.

Meanwhile, Pearland waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Yellowjackets 3-0.

While Pearland won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-22, 25-11.

Pearland's win bumped their record up to 20-17. As for Manvel, their loss dropped their record down to 24-10.

Manvel was able to grind out a solid victory over Pearland in their previous meeting back in September, winning 3-1. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Oilers' Lilyana Ulloa, who had 22 digs. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Mavericks still be able to contain Ulloa? There's only one way to find out.
