Football Game Preview: Talihina Golden Tigers vs. Central Tigers

The Talihina Golden Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Central Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Talihina's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, Talihina blew past Gore, posting a 61-7 victory. With the Golden Tigers ahead 61-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Landen Griffith produced another solid performance throwing for 519 yards and six TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 65 yards and one score on only five carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 338.8 passing yards per game. Talihina's leading receiver Noah Lloyd was Griffith's top target yet again, picking up 280 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Talihina didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cy Ammons and Jake Sherer. Ammons got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Central came up short against Regent Prep on Friday and fell 28-18. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Talihina, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Talihina took their victory against Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 27-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
