Baseball Game Preview: Paramount Pirates vs. Santa Barbara Dons

The Paramount Pirates will square off against the Santa Barbara Dons at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Paramount is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Paramount is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Heritage Christian as they made off with a 15-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Luis Banuelos made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Jacob Lara was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Adrian Flores, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Paramount always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Saxons.

Santa Barbara now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Paramount, their victory bumped their record up to 22-7.
