Softball Recap: Battle Mountain Comes Up Short

Battle Mountain had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 7-10 to make it ten. They came up short against the Meeker Cowboys, falling 16-1. The Huskies were not able to make up for their loss to the Cowboys from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

As for Meeker, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games.

For Meeker's part, Addie Knowles made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Knowles was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Mountain will head out to challenge Aspen at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Meeker, they will venture away from home to square off against Eagle Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Devils will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
