After a string of five wins, Cretin-Derham Hall's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and the Mahtomedi Zephyrs were almost perfectly matched up, but the Raiders suffered a 28-27 loss. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Zephyrs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Cretin-Derham Hall's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Mahtomedi, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Cretin-Derham Hall and Mahtomedi could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Raiders will square off against Elk River at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (85 vs. 10). Meanwhile, Mahtomedi (ranked 89th) will meet St. Thomas Academy (ranked 11th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
