Basketball Game Preview: Chadwick Dolphins vs. Polytechnic Panthers

Chadwick hasn't had much luck against Polytechnic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chadwick Dolphins will face off against the Polytechnic Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Polytechnic took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chadwick, who comes in off a win.

Chadwick will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Providence, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Chadwick walked away with a 37-28 victory over Providence on Friday.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Polytechnic's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Flintridge Prep and fell 67-38. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Wolves are ranked 51st).

Chadwick will need focus on slowing down Harper Doyle, one of several Polytechnic players who made an impact when they last played. She went 6 for 14 on her way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessie Yip, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Polytechnic's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Chadwick, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Things could have been worse for Chadwick, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-20 loss to Polytechnic when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Chadwick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
