Basketball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Comes Up Short

Canyon Crest Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Canyon Hills on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Canyon Hills Rattlers by a score of 40-38. The Ravens' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Anayla Saulo had an outrageously good game for Canyon Hills as she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Saulo has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaela Sancha, who scored nine points and three steals.

Canyon Crest Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Canyon Hills, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Ravens challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Canyon Crest Academy likes a good challenge. As for Canyon Hills, they have already played their next contest, a 49-26 defeat against Coronado on the 11th.
