Basketball Recap: Harmony Nelson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hoopa Valley over Ferndale

Hoopa Valley was the 68-61 winner over Ferndale when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Hoopa Valley Warriors lost 65-40 to the Ferndale Wildcats on Tuesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hoopa Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Harmony Nelson, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wau'Kel Blake, who put up 11 points.

Leading Ferndale to victory were Tinnley Pidgeon and Michaela Ellsmore. Pidgeon had 24 points, while Ellsmore earned 15 points. Pidgeon continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Sauers, who scored eight points.

Hoopa Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Ferndale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Hoopa Valley has already played their next contest, a 61-49 win against Tamalpais on the 19th. As for Ferndale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-46 loss against Arcata on the 13th.
