Basketball Game Preview: Los Altos Conquerors vs. United Christian Academy Eagles

The Los Altos Conquerors will face off against the United Christian Academy Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Los Altos took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Colony, posting a 62-33 victory.

Meanwhile, United Christian Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Falcons 60-27. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Falcons are ranked 936th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

United Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Jordin Edwards, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Makinzi Sherman was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 15 points and five boards.

United Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

United Christian Academy pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.3 points per game. As for Los Altos, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
