Baseball Recap: Buckeye Central Comes Up Short

Buckeye Central had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 5-18 to make it ten. They came up short against the Carey Blue Devils, falling 8-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in April.

As for Carey, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Carey, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Carey's part, Louis Watkins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Watkins was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Bostyn Ritter was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Garrett Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Buckeye Central will head out on the road to take on Lucas at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carey, they will take on Riverdale in a tournament on Saturday.
