Recap: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Canyon Cowboys

The Golden Valley Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss. They took a serious blow against Canyon, falling 60-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Golden Valley has scored all season.

Josie Regez was her usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 43 points and 11 steals for Canyon. That makes it four consecutive games in which Regez has scored at least a third of Canyon's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Ford, who scored two points along with five assists and two steals.

Golden Valley's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Canyon, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lakeview Charter at 3:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Lakeview Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. As for Canyon, they will be playing at home against Valencia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Valencia and Canyon are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
