Basketball Recap: Seminole Ridge Takes a Loss

Seminole Ridge and Martin County squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Seminole Ridge had to settle for second. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martin County Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-46 back in November of 2024.

Martin County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Becca Witt led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Katelyn Pire was another key player, earning 16 points and five rebounds.

Seminole Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 17-2. As for Martin County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-6.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Seminole Ridge will face off against Southridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Martin County, they will take on Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Martin County has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three matchups.
