Baseball Recap: Lee County Gets the Win

Lee County hadn't done well against Houston County recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans came out on top against the Bears by a score of 10-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Nathan Taczy was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lee County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Connor Goff, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Lee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Lee County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Houston County, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bears beat Lee County by a score of 13-1 later that day.
