Soccer Game Preview: Taft vs. Lake View

The Taft Eagles will challenge the Lake View Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Taft's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Lake View's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Taft's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Crystal Lake South by a score of 2-0. Given Taft's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Crystal Lake South are ranked 119th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lake View duked it out with Chicago Academy on Tuesday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Wildcats who were credited with the victory.

Lake View is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those nine matches. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.

Everything went Taft's way against Lake View in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Taft made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
