The Platteview Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Raymond Central Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Platteview is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cass just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 14-9 to the Wildcats. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 13, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Platteview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Khloe Hartman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another was Reese Lingle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Raymond Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Milford with a sharp 10-4 victory on Thursday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Tess Roubal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Raymond Central's record is now 9-10. As for Platteview, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Platteview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Raymond Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Platteview might still be hurting after the 16-10 defeat they got from Raymond Central in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
