Baseball Game Preview: Chattahoochee Cougars vs. Lanier Longhorns

The Chattahoochee Cougars will take on the Lanier Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chattahoochee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Chattahoochee barely beat Lanier the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Chattahoochee's way against Lanier on Wednesday as Chattahoochee made off with a 13-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the match before.

Chattahoochee got a great performance from Drew O'Neill as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts O'Neill has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Gavin Kirkman was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Morris, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Chattahoochee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Lanier is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
