Basketball Preview: High School of the Future vs. Math Civics & Sciences Mighty Elephants
High School of the Future will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Math Civics & Sciences Mighty Elephants at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (High School of the Future has four straight victories, the Mighty Elephants have four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In what's become a running theme this season, High School of the Future gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 49-20 victory over Girard Academic Music Program.
Jahanna Mitchell was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Math Civics & Sciences, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-44 loss to the Huskies last Wednesday.
Jabriyah Gibbs put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Saahiya Holloman, who scored ten points.
High School of the Future has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Math Civics & Sciences, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4.
Everything went High School of the Future's way against the Mighty Elephants in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the made off with a 50-24 win. Will High School of the Future repeat their success, or do the Mighty Elephants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
