            Softball Recap: Apalachee Wildcats vs. Effingham County Rebels        
        
		
        
        
            
Apalachee and Effingham County squared off in some playoff action  on Monday, but Apalachee had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of  3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  loss the Wildcats have suffered  since August 19th.
 Charly Rudell was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she  pitched six innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits.
 On the hitting side, Apalachee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Addisyn Hill, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
Apalachee's defeat  ended  a  four-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 9-14. As for Effingham County, they pushed their record up to 24-6 with the  win, which was their tenth straight  at home.
While Apalachee had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
