Baseball Recap: Triton Triumphs

Triton was handed a nine-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Lewis Cass Kings 5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Braxton Kaufman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Triton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis Cass, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Coming up, Triton will take on LaVille at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.1 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lewis Cass, they will head out to face off against Wabash at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Kings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Apaches have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
