Baseball Recap: Calvert Has No Trouble Against Cardinal Stritch

Calvert got themselves on the board against Cardinal Stritch on Friday, but Cardinal Stritch never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Cardinals. Considering the Senecas have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Ritzler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Tucker Coleman and Vincenzo Lyons did most of the damage at the plate: Coleman went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Lyons went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Coleman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon King, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Calvert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Stritch only posted an OBP of .167.

Calvert's record is now 21-2-1. As for Cardinal Stritch, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Coming up, Calvert will be playing at home against Columbian at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Cardinal Stritch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
