Soccer Game Preview: Riverdale vs. McFarland

The Riverdale Cowboys will take on the McFarland Cougars in a tournament on Saturday. Riverdale's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Riverdale turned things around against Orosi on Monday. Both finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Cowboys' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for McFarland's offense. They came up short against Santa Maria on Thursday, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Saints are ranked 19th).

With that draw, Riverdale's record moves to 0-3-1. As for McFarland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-2.

Riverdale might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from McFarland in their previous matchup back in November. Can Riverdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
