Baseball Recap: Mt. Abraham Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Mt. Abraham came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Milton Yellowjackets as they made off with a 14-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Calvin Peck made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Peck was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Stefan Johnson and Abe Ready did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Ready went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Evan Corrigan, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Mt. Abraham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Mt. Abraham's record now sits at 8-1-1. As for Milton, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Abraham will square off against Enosburg Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Milton, they will take on Vergennes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
