Softball Recap: Parkway North Vikings vs. Parkway Central Colts

Parkway North had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it nine. They lost 13-2 to the Parkway Central Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 last Thursday.

As for Parkway Central, they moved to 13-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering they have won nine contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Parkway Central's part, Olivia Knock made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Knock was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Parkway Central got a big performance out of Gianna Pearson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Olivia Magruder was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Coming up, Parkway North will square off against St. Dominic at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Parkway Central, they will be playing at home against Fox at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
