Basketball Recap: Leuzinger Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Leuzinger rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 49-48 photo finish over the Torrey Pines Falcons.

Leuzinger was led to victory by Tatyana Aubry and Sovereign Woods. Aubry dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards, while Woods shot 43% from the field on her way to 21 points. Those ten rebounds gave Aubry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Ike, who posted seven points and five boards.

Torrey Pines' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren O'Brien, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. The Falcons are 3-1 when O'Brien posts ten or more boards, but 13-15 otherwise. Addie Knauf was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Leuzinger has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-14 record this season. As for Torrey Pines, they dropped their record down to 16-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Leuzinger will face off against Granada Hills Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Torrey Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
