Basketball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin managed to keep up with Port Allegany until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Austin Panthers lost 44-22 to the Port Allegany Gators. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Gators are ranked 221st).

It was another big night for Ella Moses, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards for Port Allegany. Moses has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynn Evens, who went 5 of 11 to rack up 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Austin and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Port Allegany, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

As of now, neither Austin nor Port Allegany have any future games scheduled.
