Softball Recap: Syracuse Takes a Loss

If Syracuse was riding high fresh off their 15-9 takedown of Falls City on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rockets fell 8-5 to the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Rockets in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost four in a row.

Syracuse saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Starzec, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Kathleen Donovan was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Syracuse's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Syracuse does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they will be playing at home against Fairbury at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jeffs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of.
