Recap: Bella Vista Broncos vs. River Valley Falcons

The Bella Vista Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight defeat. They fell to River Valley 46-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bella Vista of the 44-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellie Thome, who scored 20 points along with four steals. That was a full 47.6% of Bella Vista's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mayzie Hess, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bella Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. This was only their 13th loss (out of 19 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avneeth Gill, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanvi Joshi, who scored ten points.

Bella Vista has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.

Bella Vista will head out on the road to face off against Woodcreek at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bella Vista is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Woodcreek will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for River Valley, they will be playing at home against Roseville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
