Basketball Recap: Rodriguez Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ayah Braiki and Emaysia Jackson

Rodriguez had lost eight straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-17 to make it nine. They received a blow as they fell 55-37 to the River City Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-40 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Rodriguez had strong showings from Emaysia Jackson, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds, and Ayah Braiki, who put up two points along with 13 boards and three steals.

As for River City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games.

River City was led to victory by Tillie Talani and Nevaeh Jordan. Talani scored 18 points and three steals, while Jordan went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Jordan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Jeslyne Kaur was another key player, putting up four points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Rodriguez has already played their next game, a 37-27 victory against Wood on the 6th. As for River City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-33 loss against Vanden on the 9th.
