Softball Recap: Boulder Panthers vs. Poudre Impalas
Boulder extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Poudre Impalas, falling 16-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Impalas apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
Boulder saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendal Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Poudre, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Poudre's side, they let Samantha Hagar and Cecelia Hevenor run wild. Hagar went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Hevenor went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Hagar a new career-high. Myah Gilmore also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Boulder didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-1 loss against Centaurus on the 2nd. As for Poudre, they will square off against Resurrection Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
