Football Recap: Lehighton Takes a Loss

If Lehighton was feeling good fresh off their 40-20 takedown of Jim Thorpe last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians were outmatched by the Blue Mountain Eagles and fell 42-7. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Blue Mountain got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Smith out in front who rushed for 100 yards and one score on only ten carries. The Eagles are 5-1 when Smith posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Cohen Kirby was another key signal caller, throwing for 110 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.

Lehighton now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Blue Mountain, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

As of now, neither Lehighton nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
