Basketball Recap: Marquez Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Marquez extended their road winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Corshell Vaughn. The Marquez Gladiators really took it to the Elizabeth Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-13 victory thanks in part to Vaughn, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last 35 times she's played.

Aaliyah Aceves was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Marquez has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Elizabeth, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marquez will host Torres at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Marquez is facing Torres at the right time seeing as Torres is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Elizabeth, they and Sotomayor will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sotomayor's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Elizabeth's offense will have their work cut out for them.
