Basketball Recap: Cardinal O'hara Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Cardinal O'Hara and Neumann-Goretti squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Cardinal O'Hara had to settle for second. They fell 49-40 to the Neumann-Goretti Saints. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Saints are ranked first).

Carryn Easley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Neumann-Goretti, putting up 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Easley has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Reginna Baker was another key player, scoring 13 points.

Cardinal O'Hara's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Neumann-Goretti, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Cardinal O'Hara is taking a road trip to challenge Central at 4:30 p.m. on February 27th. As for Neumann-Goretti, they will challenge Archbishop Carroll at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Archbishop Carroll will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Neumann-Goretti surely won't give up without a fight.
