Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Yutan-Mead's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Yutan-Mead lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Fort Calhoun, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Patriots put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 9-1 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jenna Trent, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024. Leah Thompson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Yutan-Mead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Calhoun only posted a batting average of .211.

Yutan-Mead is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Calhoun, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Yutan-Mead will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pioneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
