Basketball Preview: Bayard Rustin Golden Knights vs. Kennett Blue Demons
Bayard Rustin is 10-0 against the Blue Demons since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Bayard Rustin Golden Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Kennett Blue Demons at 6:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Last Saturday, Bayard Rustin got the win against the Bucks by a conclusive 60-38. Given Bayard Rustin's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Bucks are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bayard Rustin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Stackhouse, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Stackhouse hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Betchyk, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kennett beat the Auks 40-35 on Saturday.
Bayard Rustin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Kennett, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Bayard Rustin was able to grind out a solid victory over the Blue Demons when the teams last played back in January, winning 46-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bayard Rustin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
