Recap: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. Davis Blue Devils
On Friday, the Del Oro Golden Eagles's game was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down Davis 42-28. Given Del Oro's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Davis is ranked 681st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Del Oro to victory were Ysabella Von seipler and Hunter Gordon. Von seipler scored 6 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 assists, while Gordon scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Von seipler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaelyn Parry, who scored 6 points along with 3 steals.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eva Makus, who scored 11 points. Makus scored a full 39.3% of Davis' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sonia Clayton was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 7 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Del Oro and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Davis, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Del Oro will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Riverbank at 5:30 p.m. As for Davis, they will face off against Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
