Softball Recap: Oak Hill Academy Takes a Loss

Oak Hill Academy easily dispatched Carroll Academy last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Raiders fell just short of the Leake Academy Rebels by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kaelyn Pennington was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Molly Aycock was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Oak Hill Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Leake Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

While Oak Hill Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
